Optimal Health By Water, Determining Water Consumption.

Our bodies are said to be roughly about 60% water, which is why staying hydrated is so important for health.

Health benefits of drinking plenty of water.

Now, while there is little scientific evidence behind this rule,we should also be drinking more water to stay healthy and hydrated.

Brain functioning and energy levels are affected majorly by Hydration

Our brain is strongly influenced by hydration status. In fact, studies show that even mild dehydration,of one to three percent of body weight can severely impair brain function.

A one to three percent fluid loss equals about 1.5 to 4.5 pounds,or 0.5 to two kilos of body weight loss for a 150 pound or 68 kilogram

Drinking water may help to prevent and treat headaches.Dehydration can trigger headaches and migraines in certain individuals.

Studies show that drinking more water can help relieve these headaches.I'm not embarrassed to talk about it.Low water consumption appears to be a risk factor for constipation in both young and elderly individuals.

The Treatment protocol is majorly influenced by a heavy fluid intake.

Though the reason is not entirely understood Carbonated water shows particularly promising results for constipation relief.

Drinking more water can help with weight loss. The main reason it can help you lose weight is because more water helps you to feel full,so that you eat fewer calories.

In one study, dieters who drank half a liter of water before meals lost 44% more weight over a period of twelve weeks just by drinking water half an hour before meals it appears the most effective way

It's thought that cold water may be even more beneficial because the body must use traditional energy to heat the water to body temperature.

Now there's a lot of confusion about this topic and a lot of questions about it and the answer is very simple.

I'm going to give you four scientific reasons why it works so well for weight loss and health.

how much water should you be drinking a day isn't really a good question because it leads to answers like eight glasses of water per day and this is clearly not applicable to everyone because there are so many variables which contribute to ones water requirements on a daily basis and they can change day to day.

To your body needs it comes down, and how dehydrated you are? and the best way to tell is basically looking at your pee; seeing what color it is.

The darker it is the more dehydrated you are and the lighter it is that the less need you have for water at this moment.

So, if your pee is clear or if it's a tiny bit yellow, you're probably fine and anything darker and this calls for you to increase your water consumption in proportion to how dark the pee is.

Now, this can be a bit tricky when you're taking things like vitamin B and your pee gets naturally yellow from that.

But the simple solution is to just abstain from these vitamins for a day or two and see what your normal routine is doing for your hydration levels.

Here are 4 scientific reasons why water actually works so well for weight loss.

 1. Reason -:

It improves athletic performance and you know better athletic performance obviously is going to lead to more calories burned, more muscle and all these great things.

The reason why this works is because the entire body, but the muscles specifically have a lot of water.

So muscle is 80% water and clearly that means that the water you're consuming is important for how saturated and hydrated your muscles are and therefore the amount of water you have in your muscles is really important for their performance.

You probably heard this before, but it's not good enough just to drink water on the way to the gym right. You have to give your body at least an hour minimum to be able to saturate the muscles with water.

Drinking a glass of water an hour before your workout, or an hour and a half before you workout is going to set yourself up to be having better workouts on a consistent basis; which is going to lead to more weight loss and better health.

2. Reason -:

The water actually increases your metabolism. So there was an interesting study where over 12 months women lost 4.4 more pounds when they were drinking more water in comparison to the control group.

Now remember that this is independent of any other variable changes so that they were eating the same amount of food, exercising the same amount, so it was the water that increased their metabolic rate and there are some fascinating studies which show that upon drinking water, after 10 minutes your metabolic rate actually increases from about 24 to 30 percent within 10 minutes!

So it goes to show what a difference simply consuming some water can make.

But this doesn't necessarily mean that if you drink you know 2 gallons of water you're going to lose more weight. No that'll lead to palms in itself which we'll get into in a second but, it just goes to show that being adequately hydrated can make a difference in terms of your metabolic rate and therefore weight loss.

 3.Reason -:

which you've probably heard of before, is using water as a tool to eat less. A bit water before meal is acceptable

Half an hour before you eat some food or before you have some cravings of some sort, drink some water before you make that decision to go and eat the sweets and go and eat more food.

Now it seems very simple but little tricks like this can make an enormous difference in your daily routine.

But think about it, if a big glass of water can make you forget about the food, However many of the studies disproving this took healthy individuals rather than the people which were already suffering from stomach issues and then gave them water.

Most studies -like this Japanese study - show a positive correlation between water consumption and bowel movements, but these studies are also including things like fiber and magnesium, which are very evidently correlated to better and easier bowel movements when given in the appropriate amount.

So there really needs to be more studies about this, but of course being adequately hydrated helps with so many other bodily functions and it would make a difference in your bowel movements.

But the problem is that some studies have actually shown that you increase the amount you urinate after you drink but it actually has no difference on the amount that you defecate.

But too much water is bad and generally like 8-9 glasses is way too much for most people despite popular belief.

4.Reason -:

Now let me tell you a quick story that I heard a long time ago and I don't know whether this was true or not but basically though there was this army and they just won a war (this is somewhere in the Middle East), so it's in a desert.

They were just victorious from a war and they were walking back through the desert they had a long journey to make, but it was really hot and they had no food or no water! And they started to get really really dehydrated and they had lost all hope.

But they finally stumbled across a lake and it was a miracle right they saw a big lake and they were like wooing and hugging each other and saying that we will be alive and they walked towards the lake they drank the water so quickly and then they all died.

This story is often given as the example for water toxicity, which is a real thing and supposedly around 40 or 50 people per year actually die from water toxicity.

Another example of water toxicity is with people who take ecstasy (the narcotic for nightlife), right? So many people think that this is actually a dangerous narcotic, but it's actually safer than alcohol when you take the substance itself.

Most of the deaths actually come from over hydration so people have the belief that they are going to be dehydrated because of their elevated heart rate, drinking too much water and then dying from that.

Even though water is really healthy and the main reason why we have life on Earth, too much of a good thing can be bad.

Drinking too much water when you are already hydrated, when your pee is already clear can actually put too much stress on your kidneys and even flush out some body essential salts

So it's important to find the right amount for you and what's working well for you. Find that sweet spot and then continue with that rather than drinking a gallon a day as some people say.

This may vary for certain people. An endurance athlete will need a lot more water than someone who's sedentary and eats a lot of fruits every day, right?

Someone who is eating watermelon all day probably doesn't even need to drink water, or I Don't suggest that, but watermelon or cucumbers, they are basically water with 1%plant-based flesh and so you see my point, its so individualistic that we can say eight glasses of water is the best for everyone because that just does not make sense.

If you are doing the ketogenic diet especially, if you're in the beginning stages of this and you're reducing the amount of carbohydrates you're eating, water becomes particularly important

from plant-based foods like the example I gave before - watermelon, other fruits, apples and oranges.

If you are on the ketogenic diet or even if you're on a low carb Paleo diet, its important to keep an eye on your water consumption.

But again this just simply comes down to you looking at your urine, seeing how dark it is and then adjusting from there.

A really good practice I actually suggest for everyone is to drink a big glass of water upon waking up.

If there's any time that you're going to be dehydrated it's going to be in the morning once you have fasted all night and you haven't drunk anything or eaten anything and it's common to wake up in the morning and have your pee be quite dark.

Drink water in the morning. It's a good practice to boost your metabolism in the morning, as you wake up and it's probably one of the best things that you can do for yourself in the morning. So try that out.
