Do you often wonder what foods you can eat to improve your skins health and Overall glow
The truth is beauty is way more than skin deep and this is true on many different levels a growing amount of scientific data and research is Linking our diet and lifestyle core skins overall health condition and complexion skin conditions such as acne dermatitis psoriasis eczema rosacea and premature aging have now all Scientifically been linked back to diet in lifestyle
Our skin is our largest organ and a fantastic snapshot to show what's going on within our internal how a whole person approach addresses much deeper issues that can affect the appearance of our skin.
Many of these include disc lice emia, a regulation of blood sugar and poor digestive Function if a person's digestive tract and lining is inflamed or has been damaged.
For example Bacteria and microscopic particles can pass through this very important lining which in turn Stimulates your immune system to attack this results in systemic inflammation.
Which can have a myriad of effects within the body can manifest is a multitude of skin Problems a fantastic example of this is keratosis, pilaris where many of us have heard it referred to as chicken skin.
And that's those tiny little bumps that many people can get on the back of their arms on your thighs and sometimes even on your bum. This 90% of the time is a direct reflection of a deficiency in two key components vitamin A and essential fatty acids.
There's a couple of things going on here, your diet is not rich in vitamin A in key essential fatty acids, or You're eating inflammatory foods Like dairy and highly processed gluten that is blocking your body's ability to absorb these key nutrients.A diet that is high in refined carbohydrates and sugar increases Insulin production and this causes a whole lot of problems Within the body.
One of them being your skin, diets high in sugar Result in glucose and not the good glucose that we use for energy, this glucose In fact binds on to collagen and pulls it away from your skin.
It causes premature aging and wrinkles now, we just cus the bad stuff Lets get into the good stuff on how to nourish our skin from the inside out flat out healthy skin thrives on a Whole Foods diet.
It's that simple if you eat Whole Foods in their natural form, your skin will love you for it but these vital nutrients support our digestive system and balance those blood sugar problems promote healthy detoxificationThats a good thing.
Overall reduce inflammation in the body and on your skin in addition therapeutic levels of certain nutrients can play a crucial role in your skin's overall health. The first would be essential fatty acids. We've mentioned this already a few times. So thats why I want to highlight it.
Its number one Essential fatty acids are fantastic for your overall well-being Inflammation levels in your body and you guessed it your skin the second way we can nourish and love on our skin is to eat a diet full of antioxidants so by definition Antioxidants are exactly what they sound like.
It happens every single day But something that we can do is this problem and we can prevent it from happening at a more rapid pace By including a diet that is rich with an antioxidant, antioxidants occur in most plant-based foods Especially those that are rich in bright colors orange red yellow and green fruits in vegetables all of those have high levels of Antioxidants.
They boost the phytochemicals in our body to combat oxidative stress that comes from the modern-day lifestyle that we are currently living.Sweet potatoes and carrots for example contain beta-carotene which when it ingested into the body converts into vitamin A, What's really neat about these root vegetables once they are converted into vitaminA
They act as the natural Sunblocks from the inside out so neat and super effective many of the Antioxidant rich foods that were looking for pork contain that vitamin A in addition to vitamin C.
moving onto the third way to nourish our skin
that is prebiotic and probiotic a healthy population of microorganisms living in your body is a fantastic way to keep your overall system healthy and balanced. It protects that digestive tract in the gut lining that we discussed earlier.
Microbes in foods cannot permeate it and cause inflammation in the body and therefore on the skin It guards us from the harmful and unwanted bacteria in our system It keeps our body's ecosystem as well as our skin's ecosystem healthy and balanced.
My favorite probiotic rich foods are kimchi and sauerkraut Coconut yogurt or almond yogurt and I love including Miso and just so many of my dishes They have a fantastic pricemoving on to the fourth way
Moving on to our fifth and our last way to nourish our skin from the inside out and that is through
Detoxifying foodsBodies always detox and we have our liver to thank for that. We really want to support our liver as much as we can because its our best friend when it comes to detoxification. So the liver Neutralizes toxins that come into our body or in contact with our skin. The number one way we can help the liver and the rest Of our body do its job really well is to stay hydrated.
It's so simple yet It's so difficult for most of us to stay hydrated on a day-in and day-out Basis if you,I love to start every single morning with 16 ounces of warm lemon water, It's such a great and gentle way to help our body, flush out toxins And file within the system.
If you also think that your bodies have had a hard time detoxing What you could do to help out is take a little pinch of pink Himalayan sea salt and add it to your lemon water Finding of the electrolytes and the minerals will really serve you on a deeper cellular level in detoxification.
